Event Description:
The Mechanicsburg New Year’s Eve Wrench Drop – a 501(c)(3) Corporation, will present the 13th Annual Wrench Drop. The event kicks offwith musical entertainment by DJ Bob Arbogast. An evening of music, games and a silent auction will lead to the countdown to midnight and the dropping of the ten-and-a-half foot wrench adorned in lights.
“We are proud to once again offer a fun New Year’s Eve celebration for the whole family in Mechanicsburg. This year, we’re offering something new, geared especially for children,” said Darrell Westby, the event’s coordinator and longtime chairman.
New for 2016, a Kid’s Program will be offered from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the First Church of God Learning & Play Center at 28 E. Main St. The program will be geared towards children age 3 through 6th grade, featuring music, crafts, games, snacks and a photo booth.
Later at the Wrench Drop, the Washington Fire Company will have food and beverages for sale. A silent auction will be held from 9:00 – 10:45 PM with gift certificates ranging from $10-$89 in value. The annual collector’s edition mini replica wrenches will also be available for $8/each, with full sets of 13 wrenches (2005-2017) for $75. Dellinger’s Concessions will be selling various novelty items.
